Talk about a time when you had to write a poem, whether it was for an assignment, event, or special occasion. What was the writing process like for you, and were you proud of the finished product? 9/28

Prompt Response: One time I had to write a poem was in 6th grade during mothers day. The assignment was to write a heartfelt poem to one's mother, writing about all the things that make us love them. In the beginning the writing process was slow, because I did not know how to start the poem. But after a while I realized that I could just write down the things I love about her, and had it as a free verse poem. In the end I was happy with my poem, and my mother loved it.

Summary: Today in class we read a poem called “ Constantly risking absurdity".

Reflection: Today I learned that in order for me to fully understand a poem I need to break it up in parts, and read it multiple times. I also learned that annotating on the sides really helps me keep my thoughts about the poem organized.
